Uzkon LA887 Review

Uzkon LA887 re13719675_10201758712005197_5035876017270444196_oview

In the last 12 months Australia has had a numerous amount of new 12guage lever action shotguns hit the market. I decided out of all the options to pick the Uzkon. Why? Everyone was talking about the Adler and the Pardus but not much about the Uzkon. Picking the Uzkon was a decision I haven’t regretted yet.

I purchased the 28 inch model as it came with the 3 chokes standard whereas the 20 inch one required them to be bought separately, convenience more than anything. The shotgun itself is nice, it swings up and around quite easily even with the longer barrel. The 20 inch would offer even more manoeuvrability which would come in handy if you are working your way through the scrub. The finish on it is acceptable personally, It’s not amazing but really this is a budget shotgun which for me I don’t mind bashing around in the bush. The action started off a bit rough and it doesn’t hurt to put a bit of gun grease around the bolt and lever. It smoothed out as I used it more.

Now the fun part of the review how does it shoot? I put a 100 shells through it with no malfunctions, every shell fired and ejected. For a shotgun it shoots where you point, the spread on it is pretty even overall it’s going to hit what you aim at the rest is on the shooter. I didn’t get a chance to shoot anything bigger than no.2 loads but it brings me to my next point. The Uzkon feels very light so recoil is noticeable, shooting slugs and magnum shells out of it is going to be an interesting experience.

Overall for a sub 1k shotgun you won’t regret it. It works as advertised, it will take a beating and won’t let you down.

Hi there, I too bought a UZKON for much the same reasons, plus I felt the action was better than the Padus and the Adler. I bought the 20″ 887 version and was surprised to discover that the magazine only holds 4 shell (not 3″ BTW). The 5th shell misses out by about 10mm. All the adds say 5 shot mag and the tag on the gun says ‘5 shot mag capacity’.

I am going to take it back to the gun shop to get some sort of sense out of all this….have you heard any similar stories about this?

If you’re interested, you can get a 10-shot magazine extension for an Uzkon from a competent gunsmith. I know that ‘Impact Custom Engineering’ do the modification as an example.

See my comments below. Had same issue, and it is the interference between magazine end cap and magazine follower. Grinding down end cap to about half length fixed the issue,

Just bought one last week and used it goosing the first time today. Very happy with it. Only minor issue was that magazine end plug needed a bit of grinding down to allow fifth shell in. Otherwise, working great now. Cheaper than the Adler, and I find the action more solid and positive.

Hi Humberto i have had the same issue with my new Uzkon, works really well in every other aspect but i can get that fifth round in, what did you use to ground the end cap out and did you make it wider or deeper?

I just used a bench grinder and took it very, very slowly to reduce the overall depth of the cup shaped plug. Worked a treat

Did you need to remove the magazine tube from the receiver, to access the follower and spring inside?

Firearm Owners United

Firearm Owners United was founded in response to the many hysterical voices crying out for further gun control in this country. We already go through so many hoops to get our firearms as it is. We do not need more hoops. We don’t need a mother/father figure deciding what’s the best for us. We are Law Abiding Firearm Owners, and we are sick of being treated like second-class citizens.
