Hoping to capitalise on the wave of anti-firearm hysteria being swept through the Australian media by Gun Control Australia, the Nationals’ posted this on their Facebook page:

And there you have it, the Nationals sell out their constituency yet again. Why anyone would vote for them is one of the mysteries of life.
UN stooge Tim Fischer was also running around and running his mouth in the “press” aka the Ultra Left Vox. Staying true to form, Fischer spun his betrayal and made no mention of his infamous “They’ll never take our guns” speech of 1993, before he rolled over at the feet of John Howard 3 years.
The Nationals’ don’t know which way to turn. With pre-polling already open for the by-elections it seems they are more than a nervous lot.
