“Be Like Australia” where unarmed citizens can’t protect themselves from street violence

fouadmin May 28, 2018 Daniel Andrews, Self Defence, Victoria, Victoria Police 1 Comment

After a Hillside man was stabbed with a screwdriver in a failed car burglary, the “world’s most liveable city” delivered again on Friday with this:

It took a foreigner intervening to attempt to bring the madness to a halt and hopefully he has a speedy recovery.

What can you say? As usual, Police not around or too late. Given last week’s uproar I’m surprised Paramedics even attended the scene. Also surprised Daniel Andrews wasn’t out issuing the usual meaningless rhetoric he’s famous for, over this incident.

This is exactly the type of incident that could have been dealt with and stopped by an armed citizen – either with a pepper spray initially or a concealed firearm when he decided to produce the knife.

Instead, what we have is a repeat offender free to wreak havoc, multiple people physically and psychologically injured via assault and someone nearly killed because “Australian exceptionalism over firearms” or some other nonsense along those lines.

It’s also partially a sad indictment on modern day Australian society. Very few people intervene for their fellow citizens in time of need anymore but honestly, sometimes you can’t blame them. A justice system that is adverse to self-defence and weak on crooks and disarmed citizens that because of those two factors, have to weigh up the huge risk of doing so.

Now just picture if this crook had decided to use his knife from the start and stabbed everyone, not just the last gentleman? Another win for a disarmed country? It’s already illegal to carry a knife in public in Victoria without reasonable excuse and I’m pretty sure this guy doesn’t meet the exception.

Based Leyonhjelm nailed the self-defence issue again on Sky News recently:

You may have the legal right to self-defence, but you aren’t allowed the legal means. In other words, you’re expected to improvise against an assailant that has come prepared for an assault and significantly increase your risk of being hurt or worse.

If “Australian Exceptionalism” from the vacuous “Be Like Australia” crowd means being a legally enforced victim in the face of violent crime, I’d rather be the exception to their rule and protect myself.

A country that doesn’t value the most basic, natural human right of self-defence can hardly call itself exceptional, for the right reasons anyway.

South bank is broken. Was involved in an incident there years ago. Not one person stopped to help this guy getting beaten up. Not one person called the cops. Police 100m away took 40 minutes to respond. Transit police witnessed the whole thing, didn’t provide first aid, assist or call for assistance. Did nothing. I helped out, copped a few hits and some concussion but got out ok. Most juvenile offences by young kids residing in outlying suburbs. The all go there to get their drugs.

Firearm Owners United

Firearm Owners United was founded in response to the many hysterical voices crying out for further gun control in this country. We already go through so many hoops to get our firearms as it is. We do not need more hoops. We don’t need a mother/father figure deciding what’s the best for us. We are Law Abiding Firearm Owners, and we are sick of being treated like second-class citizens.
