That’s not a knife. Another win coming out of Melbournestan this week:
“A brave homeowner has taken on three men who attempted to rob his Melbourne house.
New video shows the masked trio wielding weapons as they make their way to the front porch of the Mulgrave home about 2am on September 10. After scoping out the home, one of the offenders kicks in the front door before they all barge in.
But just seconds later, the resident chases them out with a large knife.
“I thought of my kids and their safety, I had to do something,” the occupant, who requested to be identified only as Chris, told 9NEWS. “I just grabbed what I saw, and ran to scare them.”
Just a week later, a teenager attempted to break into Chris’s car, when he was caught red-handed by a neighbour. Following the incidents, the 46-year-old got in contact with Victorian opposition leader Matthew Guy, who has now taken interest in the case.
“That’s why we need mandatory minimum jail time, and a bail system that protects ordinary Victorians, not looks after people who keep breaking the law,” Mr Guy said. Investigations into the September 10 home invasion are ongoing.”
Job well done, kudos to you sir. Could not have gone any better – weapon used to intimidate multiple attackers who fled, no-one hurt, family and property protected.
Hopefully, this man is not charged as seems to be the norm.
As for Matthew Guy’s comments, meh. Sure, the bail system needs overhauling but so do self-defence laws and laws pertaining to the purchase, carriage and storage of self-defence items and storage of legally owned firearms – something Guy, Daniel Andrews or the Greens won’t touch with a ten-foot pole.
This latest self-defence win against a home invasion comes after a woman in Geelong used a knife to do the same a few weeks earlier:
The offenders kicked Mr Matthews, causing him to fall and crack his head open. During the horrific ordeal, he and his wife were threatened with a taser.
“They just wanted the keys to the car… that’s all they kept saying, ‘give us the keys, give us the keys,’” the couple recalled.
Despite the threats, Mrs Matthews grabbed a knife and courageously fought back.
“The missus grabbed the carving knife and they all p—-d off,” Mr Matthews said.”
As usual, the absurd memes about “it would just be taken off you and used against you” and “just call the Police” as an argument for preferred victimhood etc don’t apply here.
It’s clear: home invaders, being risk-reward operators, don’t like it when you fight back particularly when there is no sign of the Police. Sure, fighting back has it’s risks and variables but when faced with a choice between being a victim and having a chance to prevail and protect your family, most honest people are going to choose the latter.
Law abiding citizens should be able to protect their homes with non-lethal items such as pepper spray, tasers and the like and licenced firearm owners should be able to do the same. The firearm storage laws also need a revamp.
Melbourne’s crime wave isn’t going away. Self-defence must be part of the conversation otherwise it’s a waste of time.
If you want self-defence reform in Victoria then don’t vote Labor, Liberal or Greens in November.
Once you submit to a home invader, you can’t unsubmit, you are at the mercy of some of the lowest scum in our society.
Self defence is a right under Australian law and it is a basic human right, all we need to do is vote for people who will legislate to allow us to prepare for the disaster of an armed assault with a similar amount of preparation as they demand that we prepare for major storms and bushfires.
