Gun Control Australia staged their “#MarchForChange” solidarity rally in Sydney on Friday afternoon to a capacity crowd.
Standing room only apparently:
Don’t worry, they’re all firearm experts, every single one of them. Politicians seemed to outnumber the protestors as well. Tanya Plibersek, Lee Rhiannon, David Shoebridge and Sam Lee accounting for at least 25% of the protestors.
The most hypocritical part? Thanks to footage sent to us, NSW Police were protecting the protestors with firearms at Martin Place.
Sam Lee and David Shoebridge:
And the Police protecting them:
What a great way to take the moral high ground about so-called gun violence, protected by the objects you are complaining about. Why did you need guns there?
Furthermore, the event took place at Martin Place – the site of the Lindt Café siege where guess what, an illegally acquired firearm was used to bring Sydney to a halt and more people ended up being shot by Police than Man Monis. Also note the bollards at the entrance of Martin Place to protect against vehicle attacks.
Sam Lee then managed to get in front of a microphone for her usual incoherent babble:
Hold on tight – to what exactly? Credibility?
The same old sophist drivel from Sam. As if Donald Trump knows or cares about your message. I’m sure the 10 people there didn’t either.
The fact that virtually no-one turned up to the Sydney protest bar a few Greens supporters from the Left Renewal chapter shows you just how much Australians’ care about Gun Control Australia’s views.
This Australian exceptionalism attitude about lecturing Americans about gun laws, while not knowing anything about either Australia or the United States when it comes to firearms, is becoming a cringeworthy trend that needs to end.
Puckpunyal with the lot of them
Excuse me, the place is called Puckapunyal, up by Seymore Vic.

Another person who obviously believes that it is more important to protect the right of people to have guns then the tragedy in human deaths as a result of this suppose right.
Turkey established gun control in 1911. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 Million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
The Soviet Union established gun control in 1929. From 1929 to 1953, nearly 20 Million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Germany established gun control in 1938. From 1939 to 1945, 13 Million Jews and others, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 Million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, 1 Million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
and just to keep it current, Venezuela, today.
So tell me again about the tragedy in human deaths as a result of this supposed right, wombat
Still peddling that list… https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/little-gun-history/
Using snopes as a fact check? Snopes has a clear agenda to push, and use their idea if facts to suit themselves
The problem is snopes is wrong, to the point that you can say they are lying (taking your facts from a website is always risky) – From Snopes – “”Gun control” isn’t synonymous with gun confiscation; in some cases where genocides took place, the gun laws in force had existed for years, even decades; evidence does not demonstrate a causal link between gun control and mass exterminations.”
They hang their argument on there not being a causal link between firearm confiscation and mass murder by Govts, but that isn’t the argument presented, the argument is that with the firearms confiscated the mass murder by Govt cannot be opposed (the give away is the “unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated” – it doesn’t say “unable to defend themselves, were immediately rounded up and exterminated”).
ie Snopes presented a strawman argument and you didn’t know enough to spot it.
Also, “Gun control” is synonymous with confiscation, not always all at once, but if left unchecked it will get there, for there statement to be true, they’d need an example of “gun control” where no guns were taken against the wishes of their owners and to be credible, they’d need several such examples. and there are none.
You’re welcome.
What you what you’re reporting on here was a media call. The actual event was today. http://flip.it/cxH7x7
Misrepresenting facts, while easy, won’t help any cause.
LOL you liar. The time and date is listed on the event on facebook. David Shoebridge is even on their explicitly commenting about “after work on Friday outside channel7.”

As for today’s ‘event’ it’s basically a small section of school age kids who look like they were bussed in because they couldn’t get the day off school on Friday. There’s about 40 people there from the photo. This event wasn’t publicly listed so it sounds dodgy AF but that’s standard MO for GCA.
Nice try Caspar.
Maybe we need to have the new Zealand gun laws in Australia. Statistics show they have fewer shooting than Australia.
>Self defense is not a legitimate reason for owning a gun in New Zealand. Considering using a gun for self defense is a disqualifying characteristic.
I’m fine with that.
as a matter of interest Phil, why are you OK with law abiding citizens not being allowed an effective tool to use to exercise their legal right to self defence?
It seems to me that you are handing all the advantages to the criminal, they already get to pick the target, the time, the place, how many attackers they will bring and have the choice of weapons (not being constrained by law).
Actually the right to self defence is still in the arms act as a legitimate response if you are attacked and in fear of your life. However given that responsible gun owners in NZ have all their guns under lock and key the ability to do so is impossible.
