As the current hysteria about the domestic violence shooting death in NSW and it’s accompanying media gun control cheerleading continues, an even more tragic suspected domestic violence mass murder has occurred in WA:
There is nothing to suggest at this stage that a firearm was used, however it appears highly likely that a pair of scissors may have been used to commit this horrific murder. This is also the state with the strictest gun laws in the country and suffered the Osmington Massacre just a few months ago.
The main thing to watch here is the media – will they bury this because a household item other than a firearm was used? The answer to that is unequivocally, yes.
It’s too early to tell at this stage what the motive was but it is interesting to note that Ellenbrook is in the top 20 listed suburbs in the country for mortgage stress. Whether that is at all a contributing factor only time will tell.
Speculation aside, the point is abundantly clear: murder is murder and the hypocrisy of the media knows no bounds. We have been subject to incessant grandstanding about gun control the past week after the Sydney murder, yet three people here have been killed by (allegedly) a pair of scissors and the blame will, guaranteed, not be directed at the item.
We will follow this story as it develops.
