Imagine my shock.
While the AFP and Michael Keenan were patting themselves on the back for an alleged 57,000 firearms handed in at the amnesty, that narrative was unravelling in the Senate Estimates Committee hearing thanks to Based Leyonhjelm:
So, not only could the AFP not confirm they were intended for Australia, the majority were seized by ICE in the US and not one of them that reached Australia was a complete firearm.
In other words, Michael Keenan outright lied about the number of firearms that were seized and his “muh 57,000” amnesty announcement is also likely completely contrived. One wonders just how many stocks, barrels, bolts, magazines and slings were counted against the official number among all the rusted on .22’s and single barrel shotguns.
Guess you have to do that when you’re desperate to milk the Australian gun control cow, which is continuing to fall apart.
Even if it were true, it makes absolutely not a lick of difference when you see how many firearms are being imported by Australians every year:
None of this is surprising from real estate agent turned politician Michael Keenan, whose vast experience fudging auction clearance numbers no doubt contributed to that press release.
Too bad he can’t fudge the LNP’s approval ratings for the last 30+ Newspolls.
