Don’t complain about violence against women in Australia if you will not allow them to protect themselves

fouadmin January 19, 2019 News, Self Defence, Victoria, Victoria Police 14 Comments

It’s happened again. Another woman has tragically been followed home and killed in Melbournestan:

“A young wannabe rapper is yet to be charged almost 24 hours after being arrested over the death of international student Aiia Maasarwe.

Codey Herrmann was arrested in a park in Greensborough about 11.20am on Friday and held in custody overnight. As of 10.30am Saturday, charges were yet to be laid against the 20-year-old. A Victoria Police spokeswoman has confirmed Herrmann was on police bail for property related matters at the time of his arrest.

“As the man is currently in custody in relation to the Bundoora homicide investigation and the matter will ultimately be before the Coroner, we are unable to make any further comments at this stage,” the spokeswoman said.

Aiia’s body was found on Wednesday morning on Main Drive in Bundoora, less than 100 metres from a tram stop on Plenty Road. Police believe the 21-year-old Arab-Israeli woman, who was studying at La Trobe University, was attacked soon after she stepped off the tram about 12.10am, bound for home after watching a comedy gig in the city.

Her killing has rocked Melbourne, where thousands have taken to the streets as well as social media to express outrage and grief over yet another unprovoked killing of a young woman who was simply going about her life.”

Victoria Police Assistant Commissioner Robert Hill said this was “just an isolated incident”:

Just gag your Commissioners already Victoria Police, it’s getting embarrassing. Good thing she was compliant, right Steve Fontana?

We’ve been here before. A woman in Melbourne being followed home and killed while not being able to do anything about it. Just like Eurydice Dixon, Aiia was on her phone at the time – it seems calling the Police didn’t do anything for her either.

Unfortunately, the Australian public doesn’t seem to learn this lesson and will keep failing it. There are also many people calling for the death penalty for the offender. This is interesting as many of these people seem to have no problem with the government killing the offender after the fact, but are vehemently opposed to the innocent owning any tools which might result in harm to the offender before or during the attack, to prevent it from occurring in the first place.

Sure, Australia enjoys much lower rates of crime than other countries however that doesn’t also mean you are safe from violent crime by any means – complacency is just as lethal.

Candlelit vigils, hashtags and vacuous Lisa Wilkinson monologues do not bring the victim back or do anything for the situation and they will just continue to happen.

Self-defence is the most basic of human rights for everyone, not just one gender, and without the practical means the right is useless. The change begins with the legalisation of non-lethal self-defence tools such as pepper spray, tasers and batons and for those who can meet a certain standard, licenced concealed firearms.

Shooters, Fishers and Farmers MLC Jeff Bourman attempted to legalise pepper spray last year in Victoria and was rebuked by the major parties – this is the current contempt the major parties have for the public, yet are quite eager to exploit the misery of tragedies like this.

Let’s not also forget that 45 Australian Senators, including 19 female Senators, voted against a motion by Senator Fraser Anning to legalise the import of pepper spray and tasers last year:

The most hypocritical of these was Derryn Hinch, who also voted against the motion and has been on Twitter raging about this incident. Much justice there, Derryn.

This is how women in Australia should be able to protect themselves from violence:

Not just women, every law-abiding citizen should have this ability.

Have as many social media outrages as you want, you’re either for the protection of human life or you are not.

If only Australians put as much time and effort into lobbying and bringing out about practical solutions such as the legalisation of self-defence tools, as they do covering themselves in fake virtue and complaining in Facebook echo chambers in the aftermath of these incidents, then we’d be in a much better place.

Enough is enough……..no matter how much we weep for the loss of another innocent live …..nothing will lessen this attacks other than a change in our right to protect our loved ones and ourselves …let’s start with the simple things like pepper spray …….let’s start with the right to protect our families n ourselves regardless what the outcome is for the perpetrator…… even carrying a hockey stick in my car is illegal if I m not attending a sporting activity…..how silly has Victorian govt got…..

“Sure, Australia enjoys much lower rates of crime than other countries however that doesn’t also mean you are safe from violent crime by any means”

It is also no comfort to the victims, I can’t imagine Jill Meagher or Eurydice Dixon or any other victims last thoughts were “well I’m really glad that this is statistically unlikely!”.

There comes a point where the public has to have the moral courage to admit they don’t care – they believe they are safer in a disarmed society and that a few human sacrifices, traditionally young attractive women, are a price that they are happy to pay to have that illusion.

Tragically, the police are not there to protect, only able to arrest the perpetrator after the death of innocents.
They are there however in overwhelming numbers when the people protest against violence in our street.

The Police exist to maintain order, the fiction that they are there to protect individuals is shown to be a lie by the fact that so few of them are walking beats at night, they literally are not even trying.

Tragically, police only arrive after a murder do record the incident and gather evidence.
However they are visible in large numbers when the people protest against violence in our streets.

spot on mate. This country has turned into a bunch of hypocritical, winging pussies who just want to make noise about it and calling for the govt to protect them. The problem is the only effective measures they think will turn our streets into a bloodbath when the opposite is true and our streets are slowly becoming the bloodbath they fear because of the lack of ANY EFFECTIVE means of self defense. Quite frankly I am over explaining to people the truth and if i had the money i would move to one of the more liberty respecting states of the US not only because of the self defense situation but also because of my views on liberty which are complete polar opposite to a good many australians and very close to the anti federalists at the founding and writing of the US constitution.

If you own a firearm….that is statisitically the most likely thing to kill you. It will be used against you….it will kill you by accident…or you will regrettably have a moment when you loose your temperand judgement and use it wrongly. The safest thing is for noone to carry a weapon that can kill…so easily. i agree with carrying alarms tazors mace etc for non lethal protectection. But having people in the street carrying concealed weapons is no answer to having safe streets.

HaHaHa………a knife is also a kitchen tool that in the wrong hands becomes a lethal weapon……recent cases all over the world has shown that a car driven by many as a necessity in life can become “murderous ” weapon of destruction……so do we ban kitchen knives…..forks…..chopsticks…….cars etc……same thing with firearms……SAFE IN THE HANDS OF LFAOs…..weapon to kill in the hands of those who intend to do some harm………… dont even talk about COncealed carriers…… I cannot even protect my loved ones in my own home…..WHAT BULLSHIT!!!!

Peter……where did u get yr statistics from????

sorry mate bub the real stats show very differently to what you are saying. before our NFA came in yes suicides were high with firearms but there was not a corresponding drop in firearms deaths after the NFA. yes firearms related suicides dropped dramatically but suicides overall did not. in fact suicides overall have risen despite “better” mental health programs. with suicides it is just methodology that has changed. armed crime both with guns and also edged weapons has also risen since then. you also might want to take a closer look at the states. overall crime has dropped to half off what it was in the 80’s since more states have allowed and even encouraged both open and concealed carry and since the “assault weapons ban” of the 80’s hit its sunset and ownership has more than tripled. the only places in the US where crime is still through the roof is in the areas of the US that have the harshest gun control laws, in some places just as tough as our own. Maybe you should go live in one of the gun controlled bastions you hold so dear at least for a few years so you get an idea of the truth about gun control. the truth is the heavier and harsher the gun control the worse the govt corruption and mistreatment gets, including democide through which hundreds of milllions have been killed in the last century alone

So peter, can you give us the stats on the thousands of soldiers and police that must be killed with their issue firearms every year?

No, you can’t because you made your little fact up.

However, I’ll help you out –

according to the CDC report, commissioned by President Obama and released in 2013 – Priorities for Research to Reduce the Threat of Firearm-Related Violence

Armed citizens are less likely to be injured by an attacker:
“Studies that directly assessed the effect of actual defensive uses of guns (i.e., incidents in which a gun was ‘used’ by the crime victim in the sense of attacking or threatening an offender) have found consistently lower injury rates among gun-using crime victims compared with victims who used other self-protective strategies.”

Defensive uses of guns are common:
“Almost all national survey estimates indicate that defensive gun uses by victims are at least as common as offensive uses by criminals, with estimates of annual uses ranging from about 500,000 to more than 3 million per year…in the context of about 300,000 violent crimes involving firearms in 2008.”

Now, it’s up to you – you can look up the “Priorities for Research to Reduce the Threat of Firearm-Related Violence” paper and confirm what I point out above and shift your opinion to one based on facts or you can continue to live in a delusion, moment of truth Peter, which will it be?

Yes Peter, you are running with what I like to call the human sacrifice model of community safety, sure some random young woman gets raped then murdered every few months, but YOU feel safer if law abiding citizens are not able to carry lethal weapons, so it is worth it.

We used to heap scorn upon primitive cultures that would hurl a pretty young virgin or two into the volcano to placate the gods and allow the village to feel safe (regardless of the reality), now we do just that.

Firearm Owners United

Firearm Owners United was founded in response to the many hysterical voices crying out for further gun control in this country. We already go through so many hoops to get our firearms as it is. We do not need more hoops. We don’t need a mother/father figure deciding what’s the best for us. We are Law Abiding Firearm Owners, and we are sick of being treated like second-class citizens.
