Shooting in the US? Summon the Howard-era politicians at once!
This from the ABC:
“Sitting among survivors and parents who made emotional appeals for change, Mr Trump promised stronger background checks on people wishing to buy a gun and a “strong emphasis on the mental health”, but said teachers could help end attacks quickly.
“If you had a teacher … who was adept at firearms, it could very well end the attack very quickly,” Mr Trump, who acknowledged the idea would be controversial, said. They’d go for special training and they would be there and you would no longer have a gun-free zone.”
Mr Beazley said he had a huge amount of admiration for the schoolchildren leading the charge for changes to American gun laws.
“Now what has to happen is the Americans have to get a grip on themselves on the subject of guns, and a proper understanding of their history, which is not the understanding that is taught by the National Rifle Association,” Mr Beazley said.
“[I have] immense admiration for those kids.
“The NRA and the political class have suddenly run into something that they never expected — and that is a suffering group of youngsters who are world-class debaters — and they’re getting a world-class backside kicking, and richly they deserve it.”
UN lover Kim Beazley, who was even the ambassador to the US, lecturing Americans on their own history? We’re at levels of ultracrepidarianism that should not be possible.
“World class debaters?” Even the guy who pulled the Australia card didn’t have his facts straight.
Firstly, how is Beazley’s opinion relevant? It’s already the law in 18 US states where teachers can carry. Also better tell the Israelis’ where it is accepted practice, including armed guards at Jewish schools for the last 20 years right here in Australia.
Yes, let’s also let a generation that is eating Tide Pods to determine a nation’s firearm policy. We don’t allow teenagers to vote, so what makes you think they are capable of making informed political decisions that would affect millions? If that’s the case then I can’t wait to hear their fiscal, national security and industrial relations policies which would be about on par in terms of quality with anything Labor has to offer these days.
By the way, the current protest was completely organized and funded by an ex-CNN Producer. No mention of that in the Australian media of course.
Perhaps Beazley would like to explain how Gun Free Zones work:
Contrary to what Beazley told his ABC echo chamber, Dana Loesch knocked it out of the park in front of a completely one sided and stacked CNN audience, loaded with emotional teenagers.
Here’s her speech at CPAC:
Then out of the retirement home came Tim Fischer:
“Arming teachers, as President Trump is now suggesting, is not the way to go,” Australia’s former Deputy Prime Minister Tim Fischer has encouraged Florida high school students to keep up the fight for gun reform after last week’s school shooting. pic.twitter.com/W5M4tGOO8f

Should have stayed in retirement after your Q&A debacle earlier in the year, Tim.
Given how much of a joke the Nationals are right now Tim, I think you’d be best served directing what energy you have at salvaging that train wreck of a party.
Joe Hockey also weighed in saying “I can’t understand American gun culture”. Joe was dealt with last week but in fairness Joe, you didn’t understand the Australian economy for years while Treasurer – a far greater danger to an entire Australian generation. This is the same guy that ranted about Chinese buyers in the Sydney housing market but has now put his house in Sydney on the market in China.
However, all I can say is where’s John? Not that I care for his opinion but we can’t pay all that retired politician pension money and not have have at least a soundbite.
Any second now….
