Looks like faking breath tests got boring. From the same Victoria Police that has rushed through Firearm Prohibition Orders:
“Neil Mitchell believes a high-ranking police officer has been suspended for allegedly possessing illegal firearms. Sources told 3AW Mornings the superintendent’s house was raided, and that a pistol and rifle were found.
“I am told neither was registered,” Neil Mitchell said. “And I’m told the superintendent does not have a gun licence.”
3AW Mornings believes the raid was organised by the state’s anti-corruption body, IBAC, regarding an unrelated matter.
If the allegations are proven, it does not tarnish the whole force. But, at a time police command are chasing illegal firearms down every second borrow, it would be immensely embarrassing.
Victoria Police are not having a good run at the moment. -Neil Mitchell
Victoria Police later confirmed a superintendent “from a corporate support area has been suspended with pay in relation to allegations of firearm and weapons offences on 5 June 2018”.
No further information is available about the offence as it’s an ongoing investigation. Suspended with full pay seems like a pretty sweet deal.
The obvious question asked is how did IBAC find out about this? Was the Superintendent ratted out or just an opportunist who got careless? And does this go any deeper than what we’re being told?
You wouldn’t expect anything less of a double standard from Neil Mitchell. Don’t bash the Police because of one bad egg but at the drop of a hat he will jump on the gun control bandwagon when it’s a member of the public, at the behest of his Alannah and Madeline Foundation masters.
This is also not surprising from Victoria Police. Their infamous audit from several years ago ended up 200 firearms short. Licensing and Regulation Division is also already under investigation for suspected breaches of the registry among a slew of other indiscretions.
Not a good look from the same Victoria Police that has pushed through a whole host of draconian recommendations to the Firearms Act, to advance the cause of civilian disarmament and Deputy Commissioner Shane Patton’s career.
If only this Superintendent had been slapped with a Firearm Prohibition Order.
