Interesting development from the NZ Herald:
“A second shooting happened at a mosque in the Linwood area of the city. One Friday prayer goer returned fire with a rifle or shotgun.
Witnesses said they heard multiple gunshots around 1.45pm. A well known Muslim local chased the shooters and fired two shots at them as they sped off.
He was heard telling police officers he was firing in “self defence”.
“They were in a silver Subaru,” he told police.”
Now bear in mind, this still remains unconfirmed. There usually is a lot of confusion during the first few hours, in terms of information, of these events. If true, this is huge and disruptive to the “ban all guns narrative.” Who would have thought that return fire could save lives?
We’ve heard very little of the second attack and the other three people who were arrested so far, all the focus has been on the gunman and Jacinda Ardern’s vow to disarm the country.
Meanwhile, it took 36 minutes for New Zealand Police to get this under control:
“The arrest of Brenton Tarrant took 36 minutes from the first emergency call, New Zealand’s police Commissioner Mike Bush said.
“That is an incredibly fast response time, you have a mobile offender across a large metropolitan city,” a police representative said, considering he was a mobile offender.
Mr Bush said police were on the scene much faster than that.”
Even if you can stomach watching the sickening video, it’s about 15 minutes before the first Police sirens are heard when Tarrant is in the vehicle driving away. That’s still an awfully long time to wait for help in that context. The average active shooter event is about 3 to 11 minutes.
In a sense this is exactly what the “only Police should have guns” crowd don’t understand, whether wilfully or otherwise. Allowing only law enforcement to have firearms for self-defence doesn’t keep you safe. All it does is pass the risk and responsibility for your own protection down the line to a public servant. The bad guy has all the advantage of time and space while you wait for someone to come and save you.
A simple look at the poor victims sheltering in the corner of the mosque yesterday tells you that. What were they supposed to do? Get their phones out?
The first responder is always the victim, not the Police.
NZ Police general duties officers have been equipped with AR15’s in their vehicles for years and it took 36 minutes for them to get this guy under control. Not to denigrate Police in their already difficult duties, a fluid situation like this is incredibly difficult at the best of times, but it just further illustrates how quickly things can change and how much damage can be done in such a short space of time, no matter what implement is used. As an example, it took 90 seconds for a madman in Nice, France to run over and kill 88 people and injure 434 more.
We saw the Sutherland Springs shooting was stopped by a good guy with an AR15 just last year. There are a plethora of other examples where this has occurred and are a simple Google away, but the MSM continues to ignore it.
These and future acts will not be stopped by reactive Police intervention or disarming the public and it bears mentioning that if only Police should have AR15’s to stop mass shootings, then why couldn’t they stop this in time yesterday?
These questions and more still remain. Whether they are even going to be asked is another story, as it seems not less than 24 hours afterwards the media and Ardern are already asking for gun control, right out of the John Howard playbook.

If you’ll permit, I’d like to put a few bullet points up for discussion.
– The alleged perpetrator has hate posts up on Facebook for two years. I mean c’mon, anything resembling hate speech is normally down quicker than the town bike’s knickers.
-There don’t seem to have been any people around as Tarrant was entering the mosque. Would you expect there to be no-one at all? Maybe, maybe not, but worth asking.
-He fired a pump action shotgun from his vehicle. Like the Daewoo shotgun at the PAM, this indicates a desire to ban or further regulate these types of shotguns. Perhaps some of the reason for this is because they can be fired whilst sitting in a vehicle with relative ease, and this incident “proves” they should be restricted.
-Because although I don’t have all the answers, anyone with even half a clue must suspect that this is an attempt to pull heartstrings and incite hatred of gun owners and anyone who doesn’t fall into line with an agenda of mass immigration and multiculturalism. You’re not allowed to question this even a little bit.

today’s Daily Mail story leads with
“Accused Christchurch massacre gunman Brenton Harrison Tarrant…”
Not “one of the suspected gunmen/shooters”.
Literally yesterday it was widely reported there may have been three gunmen and that nine people had been arrested in connection with the massacre. Today, the Daily Mail is trying to make out that it’s only Brenton Tarrant. Now, initial reports only mean anything in the light of subsequent developments.
It seems strange that they had nine people to arrest almost straight away after responding so slowly to the actual shooting. I suppose Christchurch coppers are great at some things and less good at others. It is equally strange that any mention of other persons involved is buried several paragraphs into the article. None of the others are described as other suspected shooters, which would be OK if there was a good explanation as to why there were reports of these yesterday, which there isn’t.
-Who is the other man who remains in custody Bush is referring to, and who is the woman who remains in custody? Are they suspected shooters?
Police Commissioner Mike Bush would disagree with Foueds about the response time of 36 minutes:
‘That is an incredibly fast response time. You had a mobile offender across large metropolitan city. I am very happy with the response of our staff,’ Bush said.

-Tarrant just happened to be the same age as Martin Bryant, 28, and had a history of relatively unusual overseas travel. He went to Pakistan-a bit unusual-and South Korea-very unusual. Neither is a country one would expect a hite supremacist to go to.
-Gotta hand it to the anti’s. They’ve turned a weakness into a strength. Now, those proposing more reasonable gun laws for Australia can no longer point to New Zealand as a very similar country that we could follow. Quite the opposite. It’s early days yet though, so we’ll see what happens.

Brenton travelled to North Korea, not South Korea, where he was photographed next to the Samjiyon Grand Monument with what looks like a large group of North Korean military officials. Getting in and out of North Korea without diplomatic protection and/or legitimate invitation and oversight from the North Korean state is difficult to say the least, which only bolsters the case that there is more to Brenton than is being revealed at the moment.
He spent an extended period of time in Turkey, with multiple visits to the country after 2010 (Turkey is currently engaged in multiple regional conflicts in Iraq and Syria and is a major trafficking route for international jihadists and weapons flowing into Iraq and Syria), along with visits to Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Montenegro and Serbia.
The hotel owner of the accommodation Tarrant stayed in during his visits to the remote Northern Pakistan state of Gilgit-Baltistan described him as a “regular visitor” and Gilgit-Baltistan strategically borders Afghanistan and the Xinjiang region in China, two hotbeds of extremism with militant Uyghur separatists in Xinjiang and all manner of Taliban-affiliated insurgent groups operating in the loosely-policed, tribal area border between Afghanistan and Pakistan which is well-known as a refuge for terrorists from both Afghanistan and Pakistan. Plenty of training camps nearby that have previously been frequented by international fighters from abroad.
Even more bizarrely, this so-called “White Supremacist” with a deep-seated hatred of Muslims made several posts (one on Facebook, another on 4Chan and yet another on a travel review site) where he sang Pakistan’s praises as an incredible country filled with hospitable people and lamented the difficulty of acquiring visas to visit there and wished the Pakistani government would encourage more tourism to the country.
Not bad for a personal trainer out of Grafton, NSW who apparently was also a hardcore basement-dweller troll spending inordinate amounts of time on Internet forums and building connections with the alt-right.
If these gun were not available then you wouldn’t need another person with the same weapon to stop them. Which means your point is pointless.
Whether you like it or not, guns will always be available to those who ignore the law. They cannot be uninvented, and bans do not work, all they do is make it slightly more difficult to get a firearm.
